I have a tendency for oily skin. I prefer to think of my skin as normal or combination but it’s definitely oily. There was a point in time where I was seeing a dermatologist and using medicated lotions but what really works for me is simply removing all makeup and washing my face before I go to sleep! Just by washing my face at night was enough for me to see such an improvement and I no longer needed to see a dermatologist.
I use Shu Umera cleansing oil to remove makeup. Then I follow up with Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Cream. I love this stuff! It comes in a long slender tube and I like that as you use the product, the tube compresses, like a toothpaste tube. It is grainy, like St. Ives Apricot Scrub but not as rough. Also, you are not supposed to rub or scrub your face when using the cleansing cream. Rather, you are instructed to mix the cleansing cream with a little water in the palm of your hand and to use your fingers to press and roll the cream on your face. Then you splash it off with warm water and pat the skin dry and continue on with the toner and appropriate moisturizer.
When I first started using Dr. Hauschka, I followed the instructions on proper cleansing of my face, followed up with the toner and used the Normalizing Oil. I broke out. However, I kept using it and my skin cleared up and my facial skin was soft and glowy. The products are designed to clean the skin but to leave the natural oils that your skin needs. It did take some time getting used to the fact that my face did not feel squeaky clean.
The biggest con for me is that it is a bit pricey.
I completely recommend Dr Hauschka products! Let me know what your experience with Dr Hauschka by leaving me a comment below!
